Recently, I planned a last-minute trip to Cape Town and was fortunate enough to find an apartment that provided everything I needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay! In this article, I’ll share my review of the apartment in The Docklands building in the De Waterkant Cape Town area.
Apartment 308
As I walked in, I noticed how beautifully the apartment was styled. The owner opted for minimalistic contemporary finishes and Afro-chic decor. Splashes of yellow give this apartment a happy feeling, and the big sliding doors bring in plenty of natural light.
As you enter the front door, the first room is the bedroom. This beautiful bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed with excellent quality bedding. Ideal for a good night’s rest! I also found a spare blanket in the cupboard.
Next to the bedroom is the bathroom, with essential toiletries like handwash, shampoo, shower gel, a hairdryer and towels. I like the idea of not having an en-suite bathroom for a one-bedroom apartment, as it gives you more privacy.
You find the open-plan kitchen and living room at the end of the hallway. The kitchen features modern SMEG appliances, cooking basics, dishes, and silverware. You’ll also find a Nespresso coffee machine, stove, oven, microwave, fridge and washing machine.
The living room has an L-shaped couch, coffee table and a big 55″ HDTV with Netflix. You can also find a two-seater table in this area – ideal for a quick breakfast before heading out for the day.
The balcony is roomy with a 4 seater table. From here, you can absorb amazing views of the majestic Table Mountain.
Extras include Wifi and air conditioning.
The apartment was spotless and well-maintained, making it easy to settle in and feel right at home. The apartment and the surrounding area were quiet despite being in the city (I also have to note that I was staying here during the week, and weekends might be different.)
The Docklands building
The complex offers 24hr manned security, and the check-in process with the building staff is quick and easy. The apartment also works with a keyless entry system, making this the ideal lock-up-and-go for easy city living.
There’s also one convenient, secure undercover parking bay the host provides.
The building has an elevator ideal for getting to the apartment with luggage.
Additionally, they also have a luggage dropoff service for guests’ convenience when they have an early arrival or late departure.
The beautiful communal rooftop space offers fantastic views of Cape Town. Here you can also find a rim flow pool, gas barbeque facilities and plenty of room to relax. The perfect space to soak up the sun and enjoy the ever-changing skies of African sunsets.
The Surrounding Area
The apartment is within walking distance from the V&A Waterfront and many other cafes, restaurants, and bars. If you’re looking for things to do in the surrounding areas, have a look at these ideas:
- Table Mountain from a different angle
- Visiting the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town
- The City Sightseeing Bus and Stunning Cape Town Sunset
Some notes:
- Suitable for two, ideal for one. This apartment is compact. I’m a solo traveller and felt like this apartment was perfect for me staying there short term. Although this apartment allows long-term stays, I wouldn’t recommend it for long-term accommodation based on the size.
